Privacy Policy

Hong Kong Arbitration Society (“the HKAS”) is concerned to ensure that all personal data submitted through Share Law are handled in strict adherence to the relevant provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PD(P)O).

Collection of Information

The HKAS will record the visits to the Share Law by using cookies and page tagging without collecting any personal identifiable information of users.

Cookies

A cookie is a small amount of data created in a computer when a person visits a website on the computer. It often includes an anonymous unique identifier. A cookie can be used to identify a computer. It, however, is not used to collect any personal information. In other words, it does not have the function of identifying an individual user of the website

Cookies are used by the HKAS to collect statistics about the number of visits of users to Share Law and the users’ preference of websites and online services offered on Share Law.

You may choose to accept or reject cookies. If you reject the cookies, you will not be able to use some of the functions of Share Law, such as saving your preferences in using Share Law and accessing some online services on Share Law

Page tagging

Javascript and pixel tags are used to collect statistics on customer usage patterns of Share Law and Government online services offered on Share Law; and for tracking the performance of our online advertisements. A pixel tag is a transparent image placed on certain webpages to collect data on user activities. The collected data are aggregated and analysed for measuring the effectiveness, improving the usability of Share Law and the services / online advertisements provided on Share Law. No personal or identifiable information about a visitor would be collected.

You may disable JavaScript on your computer. Disabling JavaScript should not affect your access to Share Law, but you will not be able to use some of functions of Share Law, including changing text size, the chatbot function and accessing Government online services offered through Share Law.

Provision of Personal Data

For different purposes and at different times you may be invited to provide personal data to the HKAS through Share Law on a voluntary basis. Personal information may include name, telephone number, mailing address or e-mail address. The HKAS will specify the collection purpose and intended usage of your data when it invites you to provide such information and advise you how you may request access to or correction of the personal data provided.

Unless permitted or required by law, the HKAS will not disclose your personal data to any third parties without your prior consent.

Share Law uses SSL protocol to encrypt data during network transmission to protect your personal data. All personal data you provide to the HKAS via Share Law are secured, and access to them is restricted to authorised personnel only

Search Service

Search service on Share Law is provided by an independent contractor of the HKAS. We are advised by the independent contractor that it does not collect personal identifiable information while serving search results through Share Law. The independent contractor will share the anonymous data it collects through the search service with the HKAS for compiling traffic analysis on government websites. The HKAS will not match the data obtained from any such search activity with any personal data possibly held by the HKAS.

Chatbot Function

Chatbot function on Share Law would not request you to provide any personal identifiable information except email address. To secure the protection of privacy of individuals with respect to personal data, you should not provide any personal identifiable information using the function.

In conclusion, as Chatbot function on Share Law would not request you to provide any personal identifiable information except email address, you would not provide any personal identifiable information using the function and only the email address on its own , in the absence of any other associated data, does not constitute personal data, Share Law will not access, collect, use or share any personal identifiable data and there will not be an issue of limitation on the use of personal identifiable data to the purposes disclosed. Although only the email address on its own , in the absence of any other associated data, does not constitute personal data, as to how Share Law collects the email address, encrypted secure transmission under the Advanced Encryption Standard will be used to ensure that the email address sent to Share Law are protected and kept confidential. The encryption standard of AES-128 will be implemented in Share Law. Share Law also offers a range of security features to help you protecting the email address. Share Law will only access, use and be limited to use of the email address to the purposes disclosed, i.e. for the purpose of sending email to you in order to reply your legal question and provide legal information.
